BackgroundOriginally from Minnesota, Mr. Sanborn moved to California in 1978. He has worked as a structural and miscellaneous steel detailer since 1980, opening Sanborn Engineering in 1983. He has an AAS in Architecture from the North Dakota State College of Science and a BS in Construction Management from North Dakota State University. He and his wife Andrea have been married 25 years, and have lived in Idyllwild since 1986. They have four children who have all attended Hemet Unified schools. Mr. Sanborn and his wife are active in supporting families with students in special education, as they have a son with Down Syndrome and Autism currently attending Hemet High. Mr. Sanborn is actively involved in Idyllwild Bible Church, where he serves as an elder, plays guitar on the worship team, teaches and leads bible studies, and occasionally fills the pulpit. He enjoys volunteering with the sports program at Idyllwild School and the Idyllwild Town Hall Recreation. He and Andrea are involved in many activities in Idyllwild, including Idyllwild Right to Life, the Idyllwild 5 & 10K, and housing students from the Idyllwild Arts Academy. Mr. Sanborn was appointed the Governing Board in 1991, and has served continuously since that time, having been reelected 5 times. He has served as President of the Governing Board four times, and as Vice-President four times. He sits on the Governing Board’s Facilities Committee and the Recognition and Reward Committee. |
