Student Information & AccountabilitySchool site progress toward state standards is measured through the Academic Performance Index (API) and the federal Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP). The API is a number ranging from 200 to 1000. The state has set a target of 800 for all schools and each school is expected to annually decrease the gap between the school API and 800. The API is calculated using a combination of CAT-6, California Standards Test, and the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) scores.. All students completing high school must pass the California High School Exit Examinations (CAHSEE) in order to receive a high school diploma. The first opportunity for students to take this exam is in the tenth grade. The CAHSEE is also the sole determiner of meeting federal Adequate Yearly Progress. Benchmark Assessments have also been developed for grades K-12 in English/Language Arts and Mathematics. These assessments are administered every 6-8 weeks to measure student progress toward grade level standards and provide teachers with information to guide their instruction. |
