CWA First Annual Student Recognition CeremonyThe Child Welfare and Attendance department held its first “Student Recognition Ceremony” on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. in the Governing Board room of the Hemet Unified School District honoring students who have made significant achievement during the school year. There were two groups of students who were recognized. In the first group were thirteen students who drastically improved their attendance, in the second were two students who had been expelled and re-entered back into the public school system. CWA acknowledged the students’ success with certificates of achievement. Each student recognized was given a calculator and a $25 gift certificate to Wal-Mart. “The biggest factor to student success in school is attendance.” said Mr. Sid Cottrell, Director of the Child Welfare and Attendance department. The goal of the recognition program is to encourage students to stay in school, to try harder to get back in and to do their best. Students and parents were treated to pizza, salad and root beer floats served by the CWA staff. CWA plans to have ceremonies twice a year starting in 2008-09. |
